Each person made their own Antarctica habitat. We used a shoe box, paper, cotton wool, our fake snow we made and paint to create our habitats.
Science: Making Snow
We had fun making our own snow mixing hair conditioner and baking soda.
Expedition to Antarctica with News2day
On Friday January 28th we made the long trek to Antarctica. We travelled by kayak into Antarctica. We explored Antarctica holding onto ropes so we wouldn’t lose anyone in the blizzard. Tour guides gave us information on the different animals we found in Antarctica. Each group built Arctic houses with ice cubes. We were then rewarded with ice pops!
We then played games such as snow bowling, husky sledge rides, walk like a penguin and pin the beak on the penguin. We then worked in our pods doing radio messages using radio talk. It is very important in Antarctica to keep in touch with people on the ice. In the afternoon we did freeze frames in our group imagining someone had frostbite! We then enjoyed watching ‘The March of the Penguins’ enjoying some penguin bars.
